15.1 Windows WS. Редакции. Enterprise - Long Term Servicing Branch (LTSB)
Как и все что выше - тема очень отдельная в каждом случае, от версии к версии. Разница между Windows server 2003 и 2012r2 местами огромна. Разница между версиями linux местами заставляет думать, что это уже совсем разные ОС. Поэтому раздел будет очень обзорен, и ограничиться обзором "примерно со времен Windows XP" Сама по себе операционная система работает как прокладка между сотнями сервисов разных уровней, и непосредственно кнопками, которые нажимает пользователь.

и Long Term Servicing Branch (LTSB) –это все тот же энтерпрайз, но без сножества свистелок и с специфичными патчами –
LTSB is a licensing option for Windows 10 Enterprise and is available only for customers with a Volume License agreement.
Each LTSB release receives standard monthly security and reliability updates for an extended 10-year support period. No new features are added over its servicing lifetime.
When you install Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB, you'll notice some missing pieces. There's no Windows Store client, nor will you find Microsoft Edge or Cortana--both of which are system apps that can't be removed from other Windows 10 editions. Разница сейчас в основном в лицензировании. О лицензировании - раньше основное лицензирование описывалось в PUR - Product Use Rights. Однако - Beginning in July 2015, a new document called the Product Terms replaces both the Product Use Rights and the Product List.
Поскольку 2012R2 сервер все, то в 2016 сервере всего 4 опции – Standard / Datacenter, с Desktop experience и без. На основе образа можно собрать еще более урезанную редакцию – Core. В - Windows Server 2016 virtual labs – смотреть лабораторную работу
